It has been a busy week at St. Therese School! We can hardly believe that half the quarter has passed. Here is some information that may be helpful to you in the coming weeks…
-- On Tuesday (9/14), we hosted the first Home and School Association Meeting for the 2010-2011 school year. It was well attended. We are still aiming for 100% attendance for all events but nevertheless, it was a great start. The agenda for the meeting was sent home in the Friday folders this afternoon. Please review it closely (front and back) for information on volunteering and events! The success of our school depends heavily on the participation of parents, families, and friends!
-- St. Therese has the BLUES! Thanks to Mr. Kulka and the ACE Program of Notre Dame, St. Therese has been selected as the beneficiary of the 2011 ACE Marathon Fundraiser. This year, ACE students from all over the country will attend the MS Blues Marathon on January 8th 2011. See website for details http://www.msbluesmarathon.com/ A Marathon Committee has been established and the help of all scho ol families is greatly needed. An information flyer is posted on the Sycamore Website!
-- On Wednesday, St. Therese had the pleasure of sharing birthday greetings with Mrs. Peggy Huffman. “Mrs. Peggy” is a regular volunteer in the school cafeteria EVERYDAY. This week Mrs. Peggy celebrated her 99th birthday. The students surprised her by presenting cards and flowers to her and serenading her with birthday greetings. She said it was “the best birthday she ever had.” We applaud Mrs. Peggy’s shining example of service to our children and commitment to the ministry of Catholic Education.
-- Today, we were visited by the St. Dominic Care-A-Van for annual Health Screenings. We had 98% participation from the students! Congratulations! Please check the Friday folders for feedback from the screening team. Thanks to Sonya Walker and her team for keeping the St. Therese Tigers roaring!
-- Parish News….. St. Therese Church is sponsoring a T-Shirt Art Contest. Students from the school are invited to participate by designing a T-Shirts with the theme “What does St. Therese Church and School mean to me?” Contest begins 9/17/2010 and ends 9/27/2010. All youth ages 3-21 are eligible to participate. Check Friday folders for information.
-- The deadline for purchasing specialty car tags in support of Catholic Education is September 24. Please download your form from the Sycamore Website under the documents section.
